Focus on consistent customer orientation Powerful sales team, well-known brands and market expertise are competitive edge Osram, one of the world's leading lighting manufacturers, continues to make progress with the carve-out of its general lighting lamps business. After the supervisory board of OSRAM Licht AG approved the carve-out of the unit in June 2015, the name of the new company has now also been decided. “We have opted for a combination of the terms ‘LED’ and ‘advance’ and will call the newly established company LEDVANCE,” said Olaf Berlien, Chief Executive Officer of OSRAM Licht AG. “The name reflects the trend toward LED in the lighting market as well as the opportunities arising from this development – opportunities LEDVANCE will actively exploit.”
In the evenings, and especially when evenings become longer, many people love the snug, warm glow of a burning candle or open fire. Incandescent and halogen lamps create similarly cozy light by simple dimming, but with modern LED lamps this is technically not quite as simple. To create the popular light effect with 2,000 Kelvin here as well, Osram has integrated state-of-the-art LED technology into its new Glow-Dim models.
New LED lamps in a glow filament design as well as a replacement for halogen reflector lamps being phased out from 2016 are now available for the 2015/2016 lighting season.
Based on its discussions held on April 15, 2015, the Managing Board of OSRAM Licht AG intends to transfer the general lighting lamps business into an independent structure. This business includes the traditional as well as the LED-based lamps of the current business units CLB and LLS. The measure is to be submitted to the Supervisory Board at its next regular meeting on April 28, 2015. In fiscal 2013/14 this business generated worldwide sales of about € 2 billion. The independent legal structure is to provide the basis for the further development of the business, while also considering partnerships.
