The new street lighting system brings numerous benefits to the daily lives of residents. By replacing outdated and inadequate lighting with modern luminaires, the project has achieved satisfactory illumination levels while significantly reducing electricity consumption and CO2 emissions.

The City of Jastrebarsko is developing rapidly, while still maintaining quality. This provides new opportunities for investors, while preserving its high quality of life, with a strong emphasis on the protection of its surrounding natural environment. For this very reason, the City of Jastrebarsko opted for a new street lighting system that not only includes higher quality, more environmentally friendly and sustainable lighting, but also modern and smart solutions that improve the safety of all road users.

State-of-the-art luminaires with long lifespans and durable materials, compliant with light pollution regulations, have been installed to enhance environmental protection and traffic safety. The system features a central light management system that adjusts light intensity based on traffic flow, which increases energy efficiency and reduces costs. This has provided the city with modern, eco-friendly and adaptable lighting that enhances the quality of life of all residents.

Based on an existing energy audit and the WEB GIS interface of Jastrebarsko’s street lighting system, a main reconstruction project was developed, by applying energy efficiency and light pollution prevention measures, which formed the basis for public procurement financed through the ESCO model. In this way, the City of Jastrebarsko pays a monthly fee based on electricity consumption savings, and the City of Jastrebarsko will pay off the entire investment in the street lighting system within 6 years without incurring any debt.
All installed luminaires can be subsequently connected to a central light management system, which was also implemented through the implementation of energy efficiency measures, and which currently controls the luminaires along the DC1 state road and the bypass in the Jastrebarsko urban settlement.
Controllers (traffic counters and radar detectors) have been added to the central management system to manage the operation of luminaires autonomously, based on traffic flow. Luminaires not yet connected to the central management system autonomously manage their luminous intensity, power and consumption according to a predetermined operating mode, to achieve energy and cost savings during low-traffic periods (at night-time). This approach makes the new street lighting system exceptionally energy-efficient.

Replacing the street lighting system will improve the quality of life in settlements, increase road safety, and, most importantly, achieve all this through energy savings without imposing additional financial burdens on the city budget or its citizens", Mayor Zvonimir Novosel points out about the project
