Ledvance expands its intelligent light portfolio for homes

New indoor and outdoor products from Lightify

Networked garden luminaires, a flexible light strip for outside and one for inside and a motion sensor – these are the four new Lightify products for home use coming to the market for the 2016/17 lighting season. Ledvance, a 100% Osram subsidiary, thus expands its intelligent Lightify family particularly in the outdoor lighting sector. Together with already available products, the company offers an extremely wide smart lighting portfolio for consumers that in addition to being compatible with Lightify is also compatible with an increasing number of other smart home systems such as Samsung SmartThings and Telekom Qivicon.

The new Lightify Gardenpole Multicolor and the bendable Lightify Flex Outdoor light strip create attractive and colorful atmospheres on balconies, terraces and in gardens. The Lightify Gardenpole is ideal for garden path lighting and consists of five compact interconnected luminaires with a modern stainless steel look that can be installed at distances of up to two meters to each other. Each of the 36 cm-high columns illuminates with a pleasant 80 lumens – creating a total brightness of 400 lumens. Integrated into the Lightify system, users can have the light chain radiate in 16 million different colors.

Lightify Flex Outdoor is available in the same combination of colors: The light strip previously suitable only for indoor use is now also available for the first time for outdoors for illuminating flowerpots, balcony railings and patio pillars in colorful light. A 20,000 hour rated service life means the light strip is a long-term companion.

Ledvance also presents the latest indoor generation with the Lightify Flex Multicolor. Three single strips with lengths of 60 cm together with suitable cabling will be commercially available from fall 2016. Expandable to six meters, the bendable strip creates highly colorful lighting in all home surroundings. Thanks to “tunable white” functionality the color temperature of the white light can also be individually set from 2,700 (warm white) to 6,500 Kelvin (cool white), enabling precisely the right light to be generated for relaxation or concentration.

Upon motion: Light

From the fall the portfolio also offers the Lightify Motion Sensor – a major step towards automating intelligent light. The wireless, intelligent motion sensor with ZigBee technology uses the mesh network to achieve a wider radio range up to 40 meters. The sensor is also compact and unobtrusive with dimensions of just 45 mm x 43 mm x 25 mm and a weight of 35 g, and can detect movements within an angle of 100 degrees and to a distance of 4.5 meters. It can also be individually configured with the Lightify app for specific adaptation to the needs of the user. Based on motion this detection, lights, groups and scenes can then be switched automatically. “This means Lightify users no longer need to control their lamps, these always generate the right light automatically according to user needs,” explained Verena Rathjen, CEO New Business at Ledvance. Installing the sensor is flexible and easy thanks to an adhesive pad, and battery life is two years.

Compatibility assured

All existing and new products in the intelligent portfolio are not only Lightify-compatible but also compatible with an increasing number of other smart home systems such as Samsung SmartThings and Telekom Qivicon.

Expansion of the Lightify portfolio is planned for 2017. For more information about the products click here.
