LEDVANCE modernizes the lighting of the Municipal Pools of Son Hugo in Palma de Mallorca with innovative LED lights. The result: more energy efficiency, less maintenance effort, and a light quality that meets the requirements of local, national, and international competitions.

THE CHALLENGE

The Municipal Pools of Son Hugo in Palma de Mallorca are a well-known sports venue undergoing modernization. The project involves replacing outdated HID floodlights in outdoor pool areas and parking lots to save energy. The goal is to enhance light quality to meet Class I standards for hosting local, national, and international swimming competitions. The aim is to position the Piscines Municipals de Son Hugo as a modern and sustainable competition venue.

THE SOLUTION

The customer hired LEDVANCE for their expertise in sports lighting. LEDVANCE created a lighting concept for the Municipal Pools of Son Hugo, addressing evolving needs for pool area illumination, optimizing facility maintenance, and achieving substantial energy savings. The project involved replacing existing HID floodlights with 84 LED floodlights in two versions. LEDVANCE not only provided light planning and products but also managed project coordination.

THE BENEFITS

Switching to LED technology cuts energy costs by approximately 50%, and the luminaires, like the ECO Floodlights 500W with a 50,000-hour lifespan and 5-year warranty, reduce maintenance efforts and costs. These floodlights offer efficient light output at 122 lm/W, a higher lumen output of up to 61,000 lm, and homogeneous light distribution, meeting Class I standards for international swimming competitions.
