Matter Smart Home allows compatible devices from different manufacturers to be seamlessly connected with each other. The Matter standard forms the technical basis for customized smart home systems. Instead of having to pay attention to whether devices, services and systems are compatible, Matter Smart Home devices work together smoothly and easily, regardless of the manufacturer. This should reduce complexity in the smart home sector for users.
The new Matter smart home standard was originally launched by Amazon, Google, Apple and the Zigbee Alliance. The project was initially called CHIP (short for Project Connected Home over IP) and was eventually renamed the Connectivity Standard Alliance (CSA). Today, the alliance consists of more than 200 well-known companies from the smart home and semiconductor industry.
