Partnership includes Europe-wide sales activities of the SteriWhite product family and joint product development activities for chemical-free room air disinfection with UVC technology.
In addition to its UVC lamps and UVC LED proximity devices business, LEDVANCE continues to expand its product portfolio beyond general lighting in the area of UVC room disinfection devices. “We at LEDVANCE Europe believe that UVC disinfection devices are a great helper to bring back indoor air quality in a new normal during and after the continuous pandemic, besides other technological alternatives,” Dr. Oliver Vogler, managing director Europe West at LEDVANCE explains the strategic step forward. Partnering with UV specialist Dr. Hoenle AG, LEDVANCE becomes master distributor of the SteriWhite product family, a highly efficient and end-user ready device for UVC recirculating air sterilization for rooms. With over 40 years of experience, Dr. Hoenle AG is a leader in full-room air quality applications. This collaboration enables LEDVANCE and Dr Hoenle AG to bundle their expertise for human wellbeing indoors, combining lamps production knowhow and human centric lighting with healthy living and virus-disinfection technology. Especially in the context of the SARS-Cov-2 pandemic, the partners will accelerate their efforts in providing high-standard indoor air quality, especially for reopening schools, indoor dining and retailing.
“The partnership with Dr Hoenle AG is a perfect fit for better indoors under the new normal – Human Centric Lighting and clean and healthy air to enhance human wellbeing is key,” said Wolfgang Mailaender, Senior Director Strategy and Transformation, LEDVANCE.
As one of the world's leading suppliers of industrial UV technology, Munich-based Dr. Hoenle AG develops, produces and sells UV / LED UV systems, UV lamps and UV measurement technology worldwide. Its systems are used e.g. for air and surface disinfection, in manufacturing processes and multiple industries including automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical and photovoltaic. “We are looking forward to this collaboration as it enables us to reach new target groups through LEDVANCE’s well-established sales structure across Europe. That way, even more customers can benefit from our reliable and powerful solution for room air disinfection,” said Heike Runge, Board member Dr. Hoenle AG, responsible for Sales and Marketing.
The UV specialist’s comprehensive industry experience has also been incorporated in the development of the SteriWhite product family. The chemical-free solution inactivates up to 99.99 percent of viruses, bacteria and molds on surfaces within seconds. The UV emitter’s effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2 has also been confirmed by external testers. In addition to their effectiveness, the SteriWhite Air Q115, Q330, Q600 and Q900 models score points for their quiet operating noise and their modern design. With its powder-coated sheet steel housing, the emitter looks good in every room. The device does not produce any ozone and the leakage of UV radiation is prevented by specially designed light traps, so that the UV lamp can be used also in rooms full of people, such as treatment rooms, hotels, offices or retail. It can be operated either on a stand or mounted on a wall or ceiling. The air sterilizer is simply switched on and off at the push of a button. Powerful, quiet fans (< 39 dB, SteriWhite Air Q115) in the unit then generate a steady flow of air through the disinfection system. In the process, the air is directed past UVC low-pressure lamps. Their high-energy UVC light inactivates viruses such as COVID-19 or influenza as well as bacterial and fungal spores within seconds via a photochemical reaction. In the laboratory, an inactivation rate of up to 99.99 percent has been demonstrated for SARS-CoV-2 on surfaces.
Due to an extremely long service life of the UVC lamps of up to 16,000 operating hours, lamp replacement is necessary only very rarely. In case it should happen, however, a LED on the housing indicates this at an early stage. The SteriWhite Air Q115 is now available via LEDVANCE for €1.199,- net.
The SteriWhite Air Q115 complies with the following EC Directives: CE, EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, RoHS 2 Directive 2011/65/EU, Photobiological Safety 2018/EN 62471.
