LEDVANCE is modernizing the lighting in the "Langer Eugen" building in Bonn using state-of-the-art LED technology, while retaining the existing optics and luminaires, to reduce CO2 and electricity consumption. The Gegenbauer Group commissioned LEDVANCE to modernize the wall, corridor and office lighting in the building. The modernized luminaires comply with all EU directives and have significantly improved light quality, and are expected to result in electricity savings.

THE CHALLENGE

The "Langer Eugen" building in Bonn is undergoing a comprehensive modernization that includes converting the lighting to LED technology while keeping the existing luminaires. This sustainable lighting solution will retain the building's character as the headquarters of international organizations in the Bonn cityscape.

THE SOLUTION

The Gegenbauer Group commissioned LEDVANCE to modernize the wall, corridor, and office lighting in the "Langer Eugen" building, which is owned by the Institute for Federal Real Estate (BImA). By installing SubstiTube T8 LED tubes with plug-and-play cable harnesses, customer-specific glare-free LED downlights with reduced luminous flux, and SubstiTube T5 LED tubes in the office luminaires, the existing wall lighting was converted to LED technology.

THE BENEFITS

The modernization with LED technology results in improved light quality that complies with EU regulations, lower maintenance costs, and significant savings in electricity consumption and CO2 emissions. The return on investment (ROI) for the project is 1.3 years, and the safety of the lighting during the conversion and operation has been confirmed by TÜV.
